- August is back to school time around Kansas City, which brings along with it lots of kids out walking around in new places for them, and lots of speed traps. So, watch out while you drive!
- Johnson County Fair
- KC Airshow
- Kansas City Irish Fest
- KCMO and several other spots in Missouri host a tax free weekend for back-to-school shopping starting on the first Friday in August.
- The Renaissance Festival actually starts in August this year, and runs through September
