Since it was Cinco de Mayo yesterday, it reminded me of one of a really annoying thing about Mexican beers. I hope I'm not getting too cynical. I'm talking of the Coronitas. These are little bottles of Corona beer. I think they're about 8oz instead of 12oz. I don't know of anyone that intentionally orders these imposter beers. I am convinced that the only reason that they exist is so that shady establishments can offer deals on Coronas and not lose money. For instance, Jalapeno's in Brookside has a deal for a bucket of 6 Coronitas for $8.50 for Cinco de Mayo. That would be a really great deal for Coronas, and if you don't look closely, that's probably what you'll be expecting. But when your bucket of Coronitas arrives, you'll feel like you just busted open an empty pinata. I'd be surprised if they ever sell a second bucket to the same table.

I guess the moral of the story is to always read the fine print about your Mexican beers. At least check to see how fine the print is. Sometimes 8pt font looks a lot like 12pt from a distance.
